My Ideal Summers Day with Nivea

This post is so damn late. Summer has been and gone and my body is fighting me every step of the way. I've either been extremely busy or having to spend days in bed recovering and it's really getting to me. I'm definitely feeling the guilt for not doing as much blogging as I would like. Also definitely feeling the pain and remembering that I do actually have a chronic illness.

Anyway, I was recently asked to join the Nivea Family and I obviously said yes. Nivea then asked me about my Ideal Summers Day and what products would fit in with that. The thing that immediately came to mind was a day at the beach sunbathing, swimming in the sea and eating all the delicious seaside foods. However, when I went to Italy I soon realised that as a wheelchair user the beach isn't all it's cracked up to be. Don't get me wrong, the sea is my happy place. I adore listening to the waves crash but sand and wheelchairs just don't mix.

I had a rethink and my ideal summers day absolutely still has to include water. As a mermaid, I need to be in or around water as much as possible, especially on a hot day. So, I decided that my ideal summers day would be spending the day by the pool with a cocktail and a good book.

I honestly don't think there is a better way to spend a hot summers day than soaking up some rays and taking a dip in the pool whenever you need to cool down. Add in some delicious cocktails, salty snacks and a gory thriller and it's about as close to heaven as you're going to get.

Obviously the main essential for a day of sun worshipping has to be sun cream. Nivea have come up with an incredible face spray* that is not only a factor 50 UVA/UVB protector but it's a cooling mist as well. I think this is possibly the best way of applying sun cream to my face I have ever tried. No trying to rub in a greasy mess and it cools you down at the same time.

Now after a long hard day of tanning, eating and swimming there is no better way to end the day than jumping in the shower to wash off all that sweat, suncream and chlorine. My new favourite shower gel is absolutely the Sunshine Love* because it smells like summer days. It smells like sun cream, warm days out and happiness. It literally smells like a day at the beach minus the weird fishy ocean smell. It also contains aloe vera to soothe and moisturise your sun-kissed skin.

Then last but not least an absolute must-have is a good moisturiser to hydrate that tan. I have fallen head over heels for the Nivea Cherry Blossom & Jojoba Oil Body Lotion*. It smells so good and it sinks in like a dream. You get all the pros of an oil but in the formula of a fast absorbing lotion. It reminds me of The Body Shop Body Yoghurts. It leaves my skin silky soft and feeling beautifully hydrated. I also love the pump dispenser because it makes it so much easier to use with my crappy hands.

Now that the nights are getting darker and we can finally dig out the knitwear it's fun to look back on summer. What was your favourite day? I'd love to know what your perfect summers day would be.
