Favourite Dairy Free Alternatives

Some of you may know that I can't eat dairy. It makes my face break out so that I resemble the pizza I inhaled and it gives me stomach pains from hell. I am also trying to cut down on animal products. I've gradually been trying all the dairy free products the supermarkets have to offer so I thought I would share my favourites with you. The pictures are limited because I desperately need to do a food shop so I don't actually have much food in.

Favourite Dairy Free Alternatives
Milk

Oatly Original Oat Milk - I have found this is the best milk for tea. It doesn't have a particularly strong taste and is just delicious in tea. It's also great on cereal. It's so good that my mum prefers it to cows milk in tea.

Oatly Chocolate Milk - Okay this stuff is pure heaven in a carton. Alpro does an almond choc milk and koko does a coconut one but this is hands down my favourite. A carton does not last very long in my house.

Koko Coconut Milk - This is my preferred milk for coffee as it's the only one I have found that doesn't split. I found the Alpro one had an extremely strong coconut taste whereas you can't really taste it with this one. I can't taste it at all in coffee but there's a slight hint on my cereal. I love coconut though so it's delicious. It's also amazing in porridge or protein shakes.

Koko Strawberry Milk - This stuff is my crack. If you follow me on instagram you may remember when I did a Vegan Kind order and bought 6 packs of them. I have officially run out and tempted to make another order. My only issue is postage is £7 unless you spend £60. Do I want to make an order that big again. It is soo good though. They need to bring it back to supermarkets. I hate soya milk and this is the only non soya strawberry milk I have found.

Cheese

Cheese is one of the hardest changes to make. I read somewhere that you shouldn't try vegan cheese for a few months after giving up dairy and it's definitely true. I hated it when I first tried it. It has quite a distinct taste and the texture is strange. I have an issue with food textures but now that I'm used to it it's fine. I love the Saisnburys Cheddar-Style with Chives & Sainsburys Cheddar Style With Caramelised Onion in sandwiches especially with pickle. They are also delicious on crackers. I then use the Tesco Smoked Cheddar to grate on top of spag bol etc. It is also amazing on homemade pizza. The only problem I have with vegan cheese now is that it smells so damn bad. Honestly, my fridge forever smells like feet.

Sainsburys Garlic & Herb Spread - I am obsessed with this spread. It is so damn delicious. It tastes very strongly of garlic & herbs and is just perfect. My favourite lunch at the moment is this on toast topped with cherry tomatoes. I had 7 tubs in my fridge at one point because my nearest Sainsburys doesn't stock it so I bulk buy. I have a problem haha.

koko dairy free yogurts

Yogurts & Desserts

Coconut Collaborative Little Chocolate Pots - These are lil pots of chocolate heaven. They are dairy free chocolate ganache. Kinda wish they were bigger though.

Alpro Dessert Moments Almond Vanilla Dessert - These taste like custard and are so damn delicious. The chocolate hazelnut ones are pretty good too but I thought the coconut ones tasted like sun cream.

Alpro Yogurts - I used to eat a lot of yogurts before I realised that my body hated dairy. I was a bit wary of switching but these are delicious. To start with I thought they had a weird aftertaste but now I prefer them to dairy ones.

Koko Dairy Free Original Plain Yogurt - This is my all time favourite plain yogurt. I actually prefer it to the greek yogurt I used to eat. It does have a slight coconut taste but its not artificial or overly strong. I absolutely adore this with granola or fruit and it is amazing in smoothies.

Koko Dairy Free Strawberry Yogurt Alternative or Peach & Passionfruit - If you love the thick and creamy yogurts then these are for you. They are so creamy its ridiculous. You can't taste coconut and they are so delicious.

dairy free nutella alternative

Alpro Vanilla Soya Custard - I was a bit nervous about trying this but I actually can't taste the difference between this and the ambrosia custard.

Vegan Squirty Cream - This stuff is amazing. Since discovering it I have put it on everything, cake, raspberry tart, ice cream, hot chocolate. It tastes so good.

Nature's Store Chocolate Spread - Nutella is my weakness. I adore the stuff. If I'm having a shit day you can usually find me eating it out of the jar with a spoon. I was not expecting to find a dairy free replacement so easily but this stuff literally tastes like nutella. The only difference is it might be a tiny bit nuttier and it's more expensive. Still delicious though.

the best dairy free ice cream

Ice Cream

Ben & Jerry's Dairy Free Chocolate Fudge Brownie - I have never been happier than when Ben & Jerrys announced they were bringing the dairy free choc fudge brownie to the UK. It is one of my all time favourite flavours and it didn't disappoint. It is so damn good.

Tesco Free From Mini Milks - These are so good that even my little brother who hates all dairy free things ate all the strawberry ones in one go. I just wish they did the vanilla ones because they were always my favourite. The best thing about these though is they are definitely bigger than mini milks.

Alpro Coconut Ice Cream - If you couldn't already tell I am a huge coconut fan. I could eat a whole tub of this in one sitting easily. It's delicious. I also love the chocolate one but haven't tried the vanilla flavour yet.

Swedish Glace Vanilla Non Dairy Frozen Dessert - Okay this ice cream has blown my mind. It is so damn delicious. I don't think I have ever loved a vanilla ice cream as much as this. I also found a raspberry one in Iceland and my year has been made. If you love raspberry ice cream you need it in your life.

I hope this has been helpful and if you don't try anything else on this list you need to try the Swedish Glace ice cream. I ended up digging into the tub after taking the pictures. It's so good. I'm now off to have a dairy free pizza and I cannot wait.
